Escenic Content Engine analyzed in the CMS Watch Web CMS Report 2008
The Web CMS Report 2008 from CMS Watch contains a 14 page analysis of Escenic Content Engine 4.3.
CMS Watch describes their report as follows:
"Now in its 14th Edition, the acclaimed Web CMS Report 2008 provides a comprehensive overview of Web Content Management products and best practices, including updated, 10- to 20-page comparative surveys of 30 Web CMS packages (24 in the Standard Edition), as well as short descriptions of 15 other products across 7 vendor categories. Special European Standard and European Enterprise Editions cover major vendors in that region as well as international players."
Escenic Content Engine is compared to solutions from CoreMedia, FatWire and Vignette, and the analysis is quite thorough and relatively balanced. New products such as Escenic Community Engine, Escenic Tip Engine and Escenic Event Engine are covered. Escenic would still like to correct the following points:
- The report states that extra functionality is available in modules that cost extra. This is incorrect: The standard Escenic Content Engine includes more than 10 modules, for example Forum, Poll and Lucy.
- The newly released Escenic Simple Publishing is an efficient, user-friendly method for in-context content management, making content management easy also for occasional users.
- The Escenic Template Kit makes website development on the Escenic platform much easier for developers with limited JSP knowledge. By using the supplied templates, the look and feel of the website may be done purely in the supplied CSS files
