AGOF: Coverage of WELT ONLINE has more than doubled within one year

3.37 million unique users in the first quarter of 2008 / WELT ONLINE is well ahead of the Internet offerings of Focus, Süddeutsche Zeitung and Stern

WELT ONLINE, the Internet site of the WELT GRUPPE, continues its extraordinary growth in 2008 with the number of unique users increasing from 2.53 million in the fourth quarter of 2007 to approx. 3.37 million in the first quarter of 2008, according to the AGOF Internet facts 2008-I study. With an increase of around 33 percent, which corresponds to a gain of 840,000 unique users, WELT ONLINE remains the fastest growing news portal in Germany and is positioned well ahead of the online offerings of other quality newspapers like sueddeutsche.de (2.51 million unique users ) and faz.net (1.8 million unique users). For the first time WELT ONLINE has overtaken Focus Online and stern.de and is now number three in the German market, behind BILD.de and Spiegel Online.

“3.37 million unique users is a substantial figure, especially for our advertising customers. The sensational growth of WELT ONLINE proves once again the wide acceptance of our offerings," said Robert Bosch, a member of the publishing business management of the WELT GRUPPE / BERLINER MORGENPOST.

From the first quarter of 2007 to the first quarter in 2008, WELT ONLINE recorded a growth of more than 130 percent, representing a gain of nearly 2 million unique users.
