Image gallery editor

This screenshot shows how editng of an image gallery works in Escenic Content Studio:

The gallery consists of ten images, which have been dragged directly from the user's desktop into Escenic Content Studio, and then automatically been imported into Escenic Content Engine. All metadata present in EXIF and IPTC fields are imported, and if the image files contain titles, captions, etc these will be filled into the image gallery editor automatically. The standard spell-checing in Escenic Content Studio works for titles, captions and all other fields.

The thumbnail image to the right is the image that will be used when presenting a teaser for the image gallery on front and section pages.

Escenic Content Studio's built-in tagging has been used to tag this image gallery with "hiking", "dolomites", "italy" and "mountains" (tags are displayed at the top left).

Related content finder

Escenic Content Studio features an automatic "related content" search, using the standard Apache Solr search engine and requires no configuration. The search panel displays all content in the repository that is similar to the active content. The attached screenshot shows two panels at the bottom, where:

  • The left panel displays content that contain similar content to the open story
  • The right panel displays similarly related content on news.google.com

In this example (which is being implemented, and thus not quite finished), the search hits are marked in blue in the lower left-hand panel. The Google search lists the related stories as hits, just as in Escenic Content Studio' built-in RSS reader. The configuration popup dialog, where the related boxes are configured, is also included in the screenshot.

Similar searches for related content may be performed on Google, Yahoo, Twitter, etc.

When a suitable related content item is found, the content editor may drag into the article to create a story relation.

Each user may specify zero or more boxes, which may be shown or hidden at any time. The settings are stored on the Escenic Content Engine server, making them available regardless of which coomputer the user logs in on (just like all other Escenic Conent Engine preferences).

Escenic Content Engine 5.0-8 was released September 21 2009.
