Escenic 5 Roadmap
An overview of the upcoming releases of Escenic Content Engine and Escenic Content Studio.
Please note that this page may be updated at any time.
Escenic Content Engine 5.0
Escenic Content Engine 5.0 was released in October 2008, see the official press release: Escenic launches major upgrade of core CMS software. This version is now in support mode, meaning there will only be made low impact changes. Please see the Product Roadmap for details about the 5.0-X releases.
Escenic Content Engine 5.1
Escenic Content Engine 5.1 will introduce:
- Support for upgrading and migration from Escenic Content Engine 4
- Plug-in API which will support the upcoming Revision History Module
Escenic's standard license includes all updates to licensed software. A customer using Escenic Content Engine 4.X can upgrade to Escenic Content Engine 5.1 at no additional cost, as part of the normal support and maintenance agreement.
Upgrading from Escenic Content Engine 4.X to Escenic Content Engine 5.1 is done with the Migrator plug.in, which exports all content in XML format, and then importing the same content into Escenic Content Engine 5.1. This approach allows for cleaning and tidying up of legacy mark-up, and also for using XSL to modify and update legacy content types. The Migrator plug-in supports delta exports, making it possible to keep two systems in sync during a transition period.
