Escenic 5 Roadmap

An overview of the upcoming releases of Escenic Content Engine and Escenic Content Studio.

Escenic Content Engine 5.0

Escenic Content Engine 5.0 was released in October 2008, see the official press release: Escenic launches major upgrade of core CMS software. This version is now in support mode, meaning there will only be made low impact changes. Please see the Product Roadmap for details about the 5.0-X releases.

Escenic Content Engine 5.1

  • Support for upgrading and migration from Escenic Content Engine 4
  • Plug-in API for Escenic Content Studio

Escenic Content Engine 5.1-1 was released January 15 2010. See Escenic Content Engine 5.1-1 released for details.

Revision History Module 1.0

  • Stores all revisions of all types of content (text, images, etc)
  • Plug-in for Escenic Content Studio shows list of all revisions
  • Open previsous revisions in read-only mode

Planned release: June 2010.

In-Page Editing

Live editing of text and images in WYSIWIG mode, on all pages, direclty in the web browser. All changes are saved in Escenic Content Engine, just as if the changes were made in Escenic Content Studio. Please see In-Page Editing for details. Planned release in August 2010.

Escenic Content Engine 5.2.0

Planned release: June 2010. There will be tech previews for existing customers before the final release.

Escenic Analysis Engine 2.3

Real-time web statistics available in Escenic Content Studio. Planned release: August 2010.

Escenic Content Engine 5.2.1

This is a maintenance release, which includes important fixes, and no new (major) functionality. Planned release: August 2010.

Escenic Content Engine 5.2.2

This is a maintenance release, which includes important fixes, and no new (major) functionality. Planned release: September 2010.

Revision History Module 1.1

Open and edit old revisions of content items in Escenic Content Studio, save new (draft) versions of unpublished content without replacing the published version, etc. Planned release: October 2010.

Escenic Content Engine 5.3.0

  • Performance and scalability improvements m
  • Video editing directly in Escenic Content Studio
  • Improved integration with Viz Video Hub
  • More advanced In-Page Editing
  • Hierarchal tags, improvetag administration
  • Support for upgrading from Category and Taxonomy plug-in 1.X on version 4 to version 5. This will also include new features related to the existing tagging functionality that was included in Escenic Content Engine 5.0 .
  • More advanced geotagging features (see also Escenic Geo-coding 1.1-1)
  • Pluggable tagging back-ends
  • Users, groups and roles stored in the database, no LDAP dependency
  • Escenic Content Studio will use the open REST web service API
